California State University (CSU)


The CSU system is a public university system in California that offers high-quality, accessible and student-focused higher education. The mission of the CSU is to provide an affordable college education that is focused on career preparation.There are 23 campuses, which range in size from very small (800 students) to large (30,000+). Campuses are located throughout the state in both rural, suburban and urban areas.

Minimum Requirement for Freshman Admission:

  • Completion of A-G requirements with a "C" or better

  • 2.5 GPA (10th and 11th grade A-G coursework, only)

  • Meeting minimum eligibility, determined by the campus and program

  • ACT or SAT test will not be considered for admissions.

Impaction

At the CSU, there are campuses and majors that are impacted, which means that the number of applications received exceed the available spots available for freshmen admissions. Impacted majors and campuses may establish a higher Eligibility Index for admission. More information can be found here.

Local Admissions Area

HBHS students who meet eligibility requirements are granted priority admission to Cal State Long Beach and Cal State Fullerton. Local admissions area freshmen will need to present a strong high school record, with appropriate courses and grades and good SAT or ACT scores. Depending on major, local freshmen may anticipate meeting higher Eligibility Index.
